Companion Planting: Dill is believed to offer defence against aphids and mites. Beans can supply additional nitrogen to the corn. Sunflowers can serve as both a framework and a barrier against wind for the corn, and smaller varieties of sunflowers attract ladybugs that help control aphids. Pole beans are occasionally planted alongside corn to contribute nitrogen and provide structural support. Spinach thrives in the shade of corn, helping to keep the corn roots cool.
Preparation Ideas: Perfect for canning and freezing.

Suggestions
Corn is ready to harvest approximately 20 days after silk first appears on cobs. The silk turns brown and the husk will be green. Remove cobs from stalks just before eating. Remove husks and silk from corn ears. Mineral oil on the silk deters bugs.
