Suggestions

Growing Suggestions:

Harvesting Information
It is important to let the plant grow out in the 1st year to help establish the plant for future growth. Do not cut or harvest any spears in the 1st year. In the 2nd year, pick a few spears when they are about 20 cm (8”) above the ground but be selective. In the 3rd year, pick spears when they are 20 cm (8”) high and the buds are tight.

Fall Maintenance
After harvest season has ended in late Spring/ early summer, allow the spears to develop naturally. The plants will grow 1 to 2 meters tall, with light green foliage. It is important to fertilize your plants and maintain water throughout the season. During fall your plants will turn yellow, which is the sign to trim them back, about 2 cm from the ground. Make sure the area is weed free and ready for next Spring.
