Product Information
Carrot Rainbow Mix Seeds bring a colourful mix of carrots to the garden and plenty of variety to the kitchen.
Rainbow carrots produce a mix of orange, yellow, red, purple, and occasionally white carrots. The colourful 20-25 cm (8-10") carrots are fun for kids. This eye-catching blend produces roots in a range of colours, making every harvest a little more interesting while delivering the crisp texture and fresh flavour gardeners expect from homegrown carrots.
Grow them in garden beds or raised beds with loose, well-drained soil that allows the roots to develop properly. Carrots prefer a sunny location and consistent moisture throughout the growing season. Sow seeds directly outdoors and thin seedlings as they grow to give each root enough room to mature.
Once harvested, Rainbow Mix carrots are a versatile addition to the kitchen. Enjoy them fresh from the garden, add them to salads, roast them alongside your favourite vegetables, or use them to bring extra colour to everyday meals. They’re also a fun choice for families and gardeners who want to grow something a little different without making things complicated.

Instructions
Carrot seeds should be sown directly into the garden when the soil is warm and all danger of frost is passed into well-cultivated soil. Optimum soil temperature (not air temperature) should be 7-29°C (45-84°F) for seeds to germinate. Planting at a lower temperature will delay germination.Saturate the soil with water and space seeds and plant to the depth indicated below. Press seeds into the soil to ensure good contact and cover with 6 mm (1/4 in.) of soil. After planting, water seeds with a gentle mist or shower. It is critical to keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy during germination. When your seedlings reach a height of a few centimetres (inches) and have developed 2 or 3 pairs of leaves, it is important to thin them out, according to the plant spacing indicated below. Do not allow the soil to become dry, as young plants have underdeveloped roots and can quickly dehydrate, particularly in windy conditions. Carrots grow quickly and more seeds can be succession planted every 2 to 3 weeks until mid-July for a continuous supply of carrots.
- Planting Depth: 6 mm (1/4in.)
- Seed Spacing: Sow carrot seeds roughly 1.3 cm (1/2 in.)apart in rows, keeping rows approximately 30 cm (12 in.) apart.
- Plant Spacing: 5 cm (2 in.)
- Instructions for Nutrient Care: Apply SUPERThrive once per week. Soak in solution of 1/4 tsp per gal for 15 min. or longer depending on size and type.
Suggestions
Growing Suggestions:
- Carrots should be kept weeded (a clean mulch can reduce this job). Cover exposed roots (shoulders) with soil to prevent cracking and turning green.
- Carrot seeds have the highest chance of germinating successfully when the soil temperature is 13-18˚C (55˚ to 65˚F). While the seeds can germinate at temperatures as low as 4˚C (40˚F), the process will be considerably slower. It is important to avoid planting carrots in soil that exceeds 24˚C (75˚F), as this can lead to poor germination. Important Note: The main reasons carrot seed fails to germinate is due to cool soil, damping off, crusty soil, and inconsistent moisture.
- Your soil must remain consistently moist while waiting for the carrot seeds to sprout, which can take 1-3 weeks. If the soil becomes dry and a crust forms, it will hinder the emergence of seedlings. Seeds need air and moisture to sprout.
- Planting in soil that is stony, gravelly, shallow, clay or compacted can result in low seed germination and stunted, deformed (forked) carrots. Carrots grow best in a light, loamy soil high in organic matter. The best way to ensure successful seed germination is to plant in well-cultivated, loose soil that is evenly moist.
- While carrots can tolerate some shade, they thrive and develop their sweet, crunchy flavor when grown in full sunlight.
- Overwatering or heavy rainfall can cause roots to become forked, particularly if this happens within the first few weeks after sowing. Fluctuations in moisture levels can also lead to cracking.
- For best flavor, harvest carrots when roots are not more than 5 cm (2 in) in diameter.
