Suggestions
Growing Suggestions:
Cauliflower grows best when temperatures do not exceed 24°C (75°F). Low 0°C (32°F) or high greater than 27°C (80°F) temperatures decrease plant growth, lower yields and decrease head quality.
Row covers can be used to protect plants from frosts and insect pests.
As the head enlarges, it will discolor (look yellow) and develop bitter flavors if exposed to the sun. Blanch the head by tying the leaves together with strong twine or rubber bands when the heads are the size of a golf ball 5-7 cm (2-3") in diameter. This keeps the sun off the head and helps whiten them. Head are ready to harvest when they are fully developed 15-30 cm (6-12") in diameter, compact and blanched white.
