Product Information Chevron Down Chevron Forward

Columbine Blue Star Seeds produce distinctive, star-shaped blue and white flowers that bring an easygoing woodland look to garden beds, borders, and naturalized areas.

The delicate, nodding blooms rise above attractive, finely divided foliage, adding colour and texture to the garden.

A perennial favourite, Columbine is well suited to cottage gardens, woodland gardens, mixed perennial beds, and partially shaded spaces. Long-stemmed, pastel blue and white flowers with attractive mounds of airy, fern-like foliage add a touch of elegance to any garden. Perfect for beds, borders, rock gardens, and as cut flowers!

The unique flowers also help attract pollinators, bringing extra activity to the garden during the blooming season.

Columbine performs best in well-drained soil and can grow in full sun to partial shade, with some afternoon shade appreciated in warmer locations. Its graceful growth habit pairs naturally with other spring and early-season perennials. Whether tucked along a garden path or planted among other woodland favourites, Blue Star Columbine adds dependable perennial beauty without looking overly formal.

Suggestions Chevron Down Chevron Forward
Growing Suggestions:
  • Columbine plants arent too particular about soil as long it fts well-draining and not too dry.
  • Regularly removing spent flowers, known as deadheading will promote continuous blooming and encourage the growth of fresh buds. This practice can extend the flowering period as long as 6 weeks into midsummer.
  • Harvest flowers for indoor arrangements when they are half open.

Lots of blooms from an old packet

"I forgot to plant a packet of seeds dated 2022, so I dumped the entire packet mid May 2024 in a raised bed containing just top soil and hoped for the best. It's now the end of June and there's a two square foot patch and the first blooms came out today. From a 2 year old packet. Definitely recommend"
