Alaska Shasta Daisies grow single, white daisy blooms with butter-yellow centers. The beautiful flowers look magnificent above the deep green, lance-shaped foliage. These daisies are reliable plants that can withstand various weather conditions.
Start Shasta Daisy seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost in your area. Follow the seed depth and spacing guidelines indicated below. Once all danger of frost has passed, seedlings should be hardened off before planting into their growing location. Seedlings should be transplanted according to the plant spacing directions below. Pick a location sheltered from the wind and receives at least 6 hours of sun per day. Regularly monitor your plants and ensure that the soil remains moist, but not soggy while they establish themselves in their new environment.

Growing Suggestions:
Once established, Shasta's can tolerate dry soil. They prefer the soil to dry out in between waterings. Water at the base of the plant, rather than overhead. Prolonged dampness on foliage invites diseases.
Pinching back the early flower buds will help your plants to promote more branches and grow bushier. Wait until the plant is 15 cm (6") tall, cut off the top couple 5 cm (2") of the plant, directly above a set of leaves. Within a week, you will notice new stems sprouting from where you had cut the plant. This process will also cause the entire plant to branch out even more, giving rise to additional stems and more blooms.
When grown from seed, Shasta Daisies may not bloom fully until their second year.
Regularly removing spent flowers, known as deadheading will promote continuous blooming and encourage the growth of fresh buds.
